We have raised over $4000 as of April 2008 for Plenty International's works in Belize. All the proceeds from sales of our CD "As the River We Flow," released in 2000, have gone to Plenty.

Plenty's GATE Project
Seventeen public schools in the Teledo District are participating in Plenty's Garden-Based Agriculture for Teledo's Environment (GATE) Project where the students are learning to grow food organically. More and more, Plenty’s self-sufficiency-promoting programs have centered around food production with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables and high-quality plant protein.
GATE is an environmental project as well as a nutrition project in that it is equipping the next generation in Toledo with an understanding of sustainable agriculture and how it will help maintain a healthier rainforest and ocean ecology.
I discovered something else about the project during my visits to some of the seventeen school garden sites: it’s a project that generates fun, along with a spirit of cooperation, both essential ingredients of any Plenty project, if not of life itself.
The world is getting smaller. All its people really are neighbors. By working together we can become partners and friends and make our small world a better place for all. Worldwide, people are organizing at the community level to improve their economic and social conditions, to protect their local and regional environments, and to connect globally with others working towards the same goals.
The community groups that Plenty assists are a microcosm of global efforts to bring about positive change. They represent Native peoples who are working to sustain their cultures; women organizing to improve their health, economic and social status; families, schools and community groups caring for and educating their children; and older generations imparting the values of respect for the earth and each other to the young.
Since its founding in 1974, Plenty has been a conduit for volunteers, goods, ideas, technology and funding, to help people achieve their dreams for a better life. Most of Plenty’s projects represent long term partnerships that developed in response to requests for assistance. We work together with community groups to look for practical solutions to the problems they face. Plenty’s scope of work is only limited by the resources at hand. Our work is financed by a network of supporters who share to their ability. We are grateful for any and all support!
